Track a goal
How to save a chat with a Media Forecaster plan as a project, start a weekly check of the plan against its goal, read a check-in, and stop the tracking.
A project is a saved chat that contains a Media Forecaster plan. When you track the plan to its goal, Prescient AI checks each Monday how the plan paces and records the result.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The chat must contain a plan that a person created and that you can open: a plan that was run from the chat, or a plan whose results the chat shows. The plan can be the plan of a teammate.
- A plan whose results the chat shows must have a modeled outcome above zero.
- The daily recommendation cannot be tracked. Build it as your own plan first. See Build the recommended plan.
How do you start the tracking?
Section titled “How do you start the tracking?”-
In the chat, open the save dialog.
Select Save this chat as a project on the run card of the plan, Save & track on the results of the plan, or Save to library in the page header. Each one opens the same dialog, with the title Save as a project.
-
Set the title, the description, and the visibility.
-
Keep the checkbox that starts with Track selected.
The checkbox names the plan. It is selected by default. Clear it to save the chat without tracking.
-
Select Save.
If the plan is still running, the tracking starts when the plan is ready. If the plan is ready, the tracking starts at once.
The goal uses the modeled outcome of the plan. The actual outcome in a check-in is also a modeled figure: the outcome that your models attribute to the campaigns of the plan.
Where do you see the check-ins?
Section titled “Where do you see the check-ins?”A check-in appears in two places.
- On the project. Open the project in the Library. The panel at the top shows the goal, a badge with the pace, a progress bar, and the list of check-ins.
- In the chat. Each check-in is also a message in the chat that created the plan. The chat moves to the top of Recent chats.
The first check-in comes on the Monday after the plan starts. A check-in gives the pace, the actual outcome and the expected outcome to date, the channel with the largest difference, and the goal.
What does the badge mean?
Section titled “What does the badge mean?”| Badge | What it means |
|---|---|
| Waiting for the plan | The plan is not complete. The check-ins start when the plan is ready. |
| Not started | The plan has not reached its first full period, so there is nothing to compare. |
| On track | The actual outcome to date is within 5% of the expected outcome to date. |
| Ahead of plan | The actual outcome to date is more than 5% above the expected outcome to date. |
| Behind plan | The actual outcome to date is more than 5% below the expected outcome to date. |
The progress bar shows the actual outcome toward the goal. A marker on the bar shows where the plan expected to be by now.
How do you stop the tracking?
Section titled “How do you stop the tracking?”Open the project and select Stop tracking on the panel. The check-ins so far stay on the project. Only the person who saved the project can stop the tracking.
The tracking also ends without an action from you. The check-ins continue each Monday until the first Monday that is 7 or more days after the planning period ends.
If a person deletes the plan in Media Forecaster, the check-ins stop at the next Monday. The line below the goal then reads Tracking was stopped.
What if the tracking does not start?
Section titled “What if the tracking does not start?”The chat is saved, and the confirmation reads Saved, but goal tracking didn’t start. A line below it gives the reason: the plan failed, the plan was deleted, the plan has no modeled outcome, or the project already tracks a goal. For each reason, see Library reference.
For each rule of the tracking, see Library reference.
