Complete onboarding in Data Center
The guided steps of a new workspace in Data Center, from the list of channels through each connect step to the check of your totals.
During onboarding, Data Center opens as a set of guided steps. You check your list of channels, connect each channel, wait while Prescient prepares the data, then confirm the totals. The three tabs of Data Center show after onboarding is complete.
An Admin does the work. A Viewer can follow the progress.
What are the stages of onboarding?
Section titled “What are the stages of onboarding?”The list Your onboarding shows five stages and how many are complete.
| Stage | What the product says |
|---|---|
| Welcome aboard | You've joined Prescient. |
| Connect your data | Provide data for measurement. |
| Validate your data | Review and approve ingested data. |
| Optimizing your models | Your Prescient team is tuning your model. |
| Start measuring | Platform ready for optimization. |
How do you connect your data?
Section titled “How do you connect your data?”The stage Connect your data has a step tracker. Add Channels, Outcome Metrics, Advertising, and Web Analytics always show. Integration and Other show only when you have a channel for them.
| Step | Title | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Add Channels | Add your channels | Check the channels that you will measure. Add a channel that is missing, or remove a channel. |
| Integration | Connect your integration | Shows only when your channels use a warehouse or file integration. Enter the shared credentials. |
| Outcome Metrics | Connect outcome metrics | Link the revenue, leads, or subscriptions we'll measure. |
| Advertising | Connect advertising | Connect every ad platform you spend on. |
| Web Analytics | Connect web analytics | Connect your web analytics source. |
| Other | Connect other sources | Shows only when you have a channel outside the other categories. Connect the remaining sources set up for your account. |
-
On the Add Channels step, read the list of channels.
To add one that is missing, select Add channel. When the list has no channel, the button reads Add channels. To take one out, select Remove in its row. To change the connection method of a channel, remove the channel and add it again.
-
If the Integration step shows, enter the shared credential. See Set up shared credentials.
-
Open each category step and connect each channel in it. See Connect a channel for the form of each connection method.
A step with no channel shows Nothing to connect here. Continue to the next step.
-
Continue until each required channel has a live connection.
When the last step is complete, Data Center shows Everything is finally connected.
Which channels must you connect?
Section titled “Which channels must you connect?”| Subject | Rule |
|---|---|
| Required channels | One advertising channel and one outcome channel must have a live connection. An outcome channel is an e-commerce, retail, or conversion channel. |
| Web analytics | A web analytics channel is required only when you have a store that you own. |
| Steps that show | Add Channels, Outcome Metrics, Advertising, and Web Analytics always show. A category step with no channel shows Nothing to connect here. Integration and Other show only when you have a channel for them. |
When a requirement is not met, the step shows one of these messages.
| Message | What is missing |
|---|---|
| Connect your advertising channels to continue. | No advertising channel has a live connection. |
| Connect your outcome metric (revenue, leads, or subscriptions) so we can measure results. | No e-commerce, retail, or conversion channel has a live connection. |
A third message asks you to add a web analytics source for your online store. It shows when you have a store that you own and no web analytics channel with a live connection.
What happens while you wait?
Section titled “What happens while you wait?”After the connect steps, the page shows Preparing your data for review. Prescient collects the last 24 months of revenue, spend, and business events from your connected sources. The product says that this runs overnight and that your data is typically ready to review the next business day. You do not need to do anything, and Prescient sends you an email when the data is ready.
How do you verify your data?
Section titled “How do you verify your data?”The stage Validate your data shows the totals that Prescient read, with one tile for each metric and one row for each channel. The card has the title Verify your data.
An information icon beside each total and each metric heading opens a short text that says what the number covers. A channel whose number has its own rules has its own icon beside its name. Read the text before you compare a number with a report from the source, because a report can include tax, shipping, or refunds in a different way.
| Icon | Text in the product |
|---|---|
| Total revenue, information icon | Sales reported during this period, including store, marketplace, subscription, and wholesale orders. Tax, shipping, discounts, refunds, and the date a sale counts on may vary by source. |
| Total spend, information icon | Advertising spend reported by each platform during this period. Platform totals may change slightly as billing is finalized. |
| Total sessions, information icon | Website visits reported by your analytics source during this period. |
| Total subscriptions, information icon | Subscriptions reported by this source during this period. |
| Total leads, information icon | Leads reported by this source during this period. |
The text for spend, sessions, subscriptions, and leads also has a row that gives the date that the number counts on.
-
Compare each total with the number in your own records for the reporting period that the card states.
-
For a channel with the correct number, select Looks right.
-
For a channel with a wrong number, select It’s off, type the number that you expected in The number you expected, then select Send to review.
The channel shows Being reviewed. When Prescient updates the number, a banner above the card reads Ready for another look, and you check the marked channels again.
-
When each number is confirmed, select Confirm data.
Only an Admin sees these buttons. A Viewer sees the numbers and a line that says an account admin must review them.
While a flagged number is in review, the step shows a banner above the card and a badge on the channel.
| Banner | What it means |
|---|---|
| Thanks — we're on it | Prescient is checking the numbers that you flagged. |
| Ready for another look | Prescient updated the numbers that you flagged. Check the marked channels again. |
| Badge on a channel | What it means |
|---|---|
| Being reviewed | You flagged the number and Prescient is checking it. |
| Updated — please review | Prescient updated the number. Check the channel again. |
What happens after you confirm?
Section titled “What happens after you confirm?”The page shows Building your marketing mix model. Your Prescient team calibrates your models against the data that you verified. You can leave the page, and Prescient sends you an email when your results are ready. You can then read your models in Model Center.
What if you connect a channel after onboarding?
Section titled “What if you connect a channel after onboarding?”A channel that you connect after onboarding can have numbers that were not part of your review. Data Center then shows a card with the title New data to verify above the three tabs. The card states the period that it measured. An Admin checks each number in the same way, with Looks right or It’s off. The product says that the rest of your data is not affected.
