# Fix a broken connection

> How to use the Prescient AI screen to learn why a data connection stopped, how to open its setup to repair it, and what the notes about connections and models mean.

When a data connection stops, the figures that use it read low until the connection works again. The Prescient AI screen puts a broken connection in the greeting, so that you see it when you sign in.

## Which connections does the screen show?

The screen shows two kinds of broken connection.

- **A connection that you can repair.** The greeting has one row for the connection, with the buttons **Why?** and **Fix in Data Center**. A login that expired is one example.
- **A connection with no fix on your side.** The product has no fix that you can make for this failure. The greeting has a short note, with no button. The note says that the connection stopped syncing, that Prescient is looking into it, and that Prescient will reach out if it needs anything from you.

A note of the second kind shows after the failure has lasted 24 hours, because a connection often recovers at its next sync. A failure with no recorded start time shows at once.

## How do you repair a connection?

1. Open **Prescient AI** from the sidebar and find the row for the connection in the greeting.

2. To learn the cause, select **Why?**.

The chat sends a question about the connection. The answer explains why the connection stopped and what to do.

3. Select **Fix in Data Center**.

Data Center opens the setup of that connection.

4. Follow the steps in the setup to connect the source again. For the steps of each connection method, see [Fix a channel that needs attention](https://docs.prescientai.com/data-center/fix-a-channel-that-needs-attention).

> **Who can repair a connection:** The setup of a connection is for an Admin of your workspace. If you cannot change the connection, ask an Admin on your team. For the two roles, see [Roles and members](https://docs.prescientai.com/reference/account/roles-and-members).

## What do the notes about models mean?

The greeting can also have a note about a model. A note shows when a model did not complete its last run, when a model has no modeled data, or when the last modeled day of a model is old. The note says that Prescient is checking the model.

A model can be behind because one of your data sources stopped delivering. So also check the connection rows on this screen, and the state of your channels in [Data Center](https://docs.prescientai.com/data-center/check-status-and-data-freshness).

A daily model is behind when its last modeled day is 10 or more days old. A weekly model is behind at 21 or more days.
