# Save a conversation

> How to save a Prescient AI chat to the Library with a title, a description, and a visibility, and what the saved copy contains.

You save a conversation from the chat. The Library keeps a copy of the conversation as it is at that moment.

## How do you save a conversation?

1. In a Prescient AI chat, select **Save to library** in the page header.

The button is available after the chat has a message and while no answer is in progress.

2. Check the **Title**.

When the chat contains a plan that can be tracked, the title starts as the name of that plan. For other chats the title starts as your first message. A chat with no plan and no typed message starts with the title **Untitled conversation**. Change it to a title that your team can recognize.

3. Optional: type a **Description** that tells a reader what to know first.

4. Select a **Visibility**.

**Private** keeps the item to you. **Shared with your team** lets each person in your workspace read it. **Private** is the default, and you can change the visibility later.

5. Select **Save**.

A message confirms the save. Select **Open** in the message to go to the saved item.

> **A save is a copy:** The saved item does not change when you continue the chat. To keep later messages, save the chat again.

## What does the confirmation say?

| Message | What it means |
| ---------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Saved to your library** | The conversation is in the Library. |
| **Saved as a project** | The conversation is in the Library and contains a plan that can be tracked. |
| **Saved as a project · tracking your goal** | The conversation is in the Library and the weekly check-ins started. |
| **Saved · this chat already tracks that goal** | An earlier save of this chat tracks the same plan. The new save did not start a second set of check-ins. |
| **Saved as a new version** | The chat came from **Run again with today's data**. The save added a version to the item. |
| **Saved, but goal tracking didn't start** | The conversation is in the Library. The toast gives the reason why the check-ins did not start. |

If the chat contains a plan that is still running, and you keep the tracking selected, the confirmation says that the chat is saved as a project and that the check-ins start when the plan is ready.

## What are the limits of a save?

A title is necessary and has up to 120 characters. A description has up to 500 characters. A conversation of more than 1.5 MB cannot be saved. For each rule and each error message, see [Library reference](https://docs.prescientai.com/reference/library/library#rules-of-a-save).

## What if the chat contains a plan?

If the chat contains a Media Forecaster plan that can be tracked, the dialog has the title **Save as a project** and one more option, to track the plan to its goal. The plan can be your plan or the plan of a teammate that you can open. See [Track a goal](https://docs.prescientai.com/library/track-a-goal).
