# Remove a channel

> How an Admin removes a channel from Data Center, what the removal deletes and keeps, and how to change the connection method of a channel.

To remove a channel, open the menu at the end of its row on the **Channels** tab, select **Remove**, and confirm. The removal deletes the connection and its sync credentials. Prescient keeps the data that was synced.

You must be an Admin to remove a channel.

## How do you remove a channel?

1. Open **Data Center** and stay on the **Channels** tab.

2. Select the menu at the end of the row of the channel.

3. Select **Remove**.

A dialog asks you to confirm. The title has the name of the channel.

4. Select **Remove**.

Data Center shows a message with the name of the channel and the word removed. The channel is no longer in the table.

## What does the removal delete?

The dialog states what the removal deletes and what it keeps.

| Action | What the dialog says |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Remove** | This removes the channel from this organization. Synced warehouse data is kept, but the connection and any sync credentials for it are deleted. |

> **New data stops:** After you remove a channel, Prescient gets no new data for the channel. If you add the channel again, you must connect it again.

## How do you change the connection method of a channel?

You cannot change the connection method of a channel in place. Remove the channel, then add it again.

1. Remove the channel with the steps above.

2. Select **Add channel** and add the channel again.

Prescient selects the method. For the rule, see [How is the connection method selected](https://docs.prescientai.com/data-center/add-a-channel#how-is-the-connection-method-selected).

3. [Connect the channel](https://docs.prescientai.com/data-center/connect-a-channel).

To stop the syncs of a channel and keep the channel in your list, use **Pause** or **Disconnect** in the **Manage** menu. See [How do you manage a live connection](https://docs.prescientai.com/data-center/connect-a-channel#how-do-you-manage-a-live-connection).
