# Label campaigns with tactics

> How to give advertising campaigns a tactic on the Tactics tab of Data Center, one campaign or many, and how an Admin adds a custom tactic.

To label a campaign, open the **Tactics** tab, select a tactic in the **Tactic** column of the campaign, then select **Save**. Attribution then groups the campaign under that tactic. A campaign with no tactic stays in the **Not set** group.

The capture shows the toolbar and the column headings of the **Tactics** tab.

An Admin and a Viewer can each label campaigns. Only an Admin can add, rename, or delete a tactic.

## How do you label one campaign?

1. Open **Data Center** and select the **Tactics** tab.

The table lists your advertising campaigns. The campaigns with the highest spend in the last 30 days are first.

When one campaign or more has a tactic, the tab opens on **Labeled**. To see the campaigns with no tactic, select **All** or **Unlabeled**.

2. In the row of the campaign, select the control in the **Tactic** column.

3. Select a tactic. To find one, type in **Search tactics…**.

The row shows the badge **Edited**. The change is staged, not saved.

4. Select **Save**. The button shows the count of changed campaigns.

Data Center confirms the count of tactics that it saved.

## How do you label many campaigns at one time?

1. Find the campaigns. Type in **Search campaigns…**, or select **Filters** and add a rule for **Campaign Name**, for example **Contains** and a word that the campaign names share.

2. Select the checkbox of each campaign, or select the checkbox in the header.

The checkbox in the header selects each campaign that matches the search and the filters, on each page.

3. In the bar that shows, select a tactic in **Choose a tactic**.

4. Select **Apply to selected**.

5. Select **Save**.

To find the campaigns that still need a tactic, select **Unlabeled**.

## How do you change or remove a label?

- To change a label, select a different tactic in the **Tactic** column, then select **Save**.
- To remove a label, select the same tactic again in the picker, then select **Save**. The campaign returns to **Not set**.
- To drop each staged change, select **Discard**.

> **Save before you leave the tab:** A staged change is lost if you leave the tab and do not save. The browser asks you to confirm before you leave with staged changes.

## How do you add a custom tactic?

You must be an Admin. The built-in tactics have the badge **Default**, and you cannot rename or delete them.

1. On the **Tactics** tab, select **Manage tactics**.

2. Type a name in **New tactic name…**, then select **Add**.

The name needs 2 characters or more, with a letter or a number.

3. Close the dialog. The tactic is now in the picker.

In the same dialog, you can rename a custom tactic, and you can delete a custom tactic while no campaign has it. To delete a tactic that is in use, remove the label from each campaign first.

## Where do the labels show?

The labels group your campaigns on the **Tactics** tab of the Attribution **Performance Table**. See [Compare channels, tactics, and campaigns](https://docs.prescientai.com/attribution/compare-channels-tactics-and-campaigns).

For the full list of built-in tactics and the rules of the tab, see [Tactics reference](https://docs.prescientai.com/reference/data-center/tactics).
