# Add a channel

> How an Admin adds channels to the Channels tab of Data Center, how Prescient selects the connection method, and what to do when a channel is not in the list.

To add a channel, select **Add channel** on the **Channels** tab, select one or more channels, then select **Add channels**. Each new channel shows in the table with the status **Not connected**. You connect its data in a second step.

Only an Admin sees the **Add channel** button. On a tab with no channel, the button reads **Add channels**.

## How do you add a channel?

1. Open **Data Center** and stay on the **Channels** tab.

2. Select **Add channel**.

   The **Add channels** dialog opens.

3. Select a category tab, or type a name in **Search channels…**.

4. Select each channel that you measure.

   A row can show the text **via **. The text names the integration that will carry the data of that channel.

5. Select **Add channels**.

Data Center shows **Channel added.** for one channel, or the count of channels for two or more. The channels are now in the table. Next, [connect each channel](https://docs.prescientai.com/data-center/connect-a-channel).

## What are the category tabs?

The dialog groups the channels into category tabs.

| Tab               | What it lists                                              |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Advertising**   | Ad platforms and media types.                              |
| **Revenue**       | Stores and retailers that give revenue.                    |
| **Web Analytics** | Web analytics sources.                                     |
| **Conversions**   | Outcome counts such as leads or subscriptions.             |
| **Other**         | Shows only when a channel is outside the other categories. |

A channel that you added before is not in the dialog. When no channel is left, the dialog shows **Every available channel is already added.**

## How is the connection method selected?

You do not select the connection method of a channel. Prescient selects it for you.

| Connection method | You do not select a connection method. Prescient selects the method of each channel: the main automated method of the channel, then a warehouse integration that your workspace has, then Google Sheets. |
| Change of method  | To use a different connection method for a channel, remove the channel and add the channel again.                                                                                                        |

> **The list of channels depends on your account:** The dialog shows only the channels that your workspace can add, and the list changes over time.
